Then you are a “scanner”. The term was chosen by US life and careers coach Barbara Sher and written about in her recent book “What Do I Do When I Want to Do Everything? - A revolutionary program for doing everything that you love”.

Who am I? I’m John Williams, a confirmed scanner, attendee of Barbara Sher’s 2007 Scanner Workshop and a portfolio worker (careers coach, consultant, writer, musician).

Next Scanners’ meeting: 11th June 08

Hello fellow Scanners,

Don’t live a life surrounded by serious types who are happy to do one thing for the rest of their lives. Come meet a bunch of other Scanners who are consumed by a different passion every week and probably have a minimum of 3 business cards each. Plus learn lots of tips about how to have the best possible life as a scanner.

What happens?
Our meetings are an informal chance to meet other scanners and learn about how to have the best possible life as a scanner yourself.

We usually meet in a bar in central London. You’ll meet some other scanners plus professional coaches like myself and we’ll discuss a topic each time such as "Whether, when and how to focus", time management and how to make a living as a scanner. This is a chance to get some free advice from myself as a careers and business coach specialising in working with scanners.

You will also have time to ask your own questions. If you’ve got something you’re stuck on - like choosing a career option or how to make a project happen, I'll give you a quick bit of coaching and we will all brainstorm for you to find a solution.

Special Guest: Jurgen Wolff - Hollywood scriptwriter, Creativity expert, and author of 8 books including "Focus: The power of targeted thinking". He will talk on "The Power of Micro-Focus: How you can achieve powerful focus for your diverse interests". This will be a very practical session, with lots of tips and techniques, not theory.
